Creativity with Purpose— Painting a Path to Emotional Well-Being & Growth
The Social-Emotional Learning Through the Arts (SEL) program is designed to support the emotional, social, and cognitive development of elementary and middle school students through creative expression. This initiative integrates various art forms like visual arts, music, dance, and drama to help students process difficult emotions, reduce stress, and build resilience in a safe and inclusive environment. The importance of the program lies in its ability to provide students with the tools to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and creativity while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Bring SEL to Your School
The SEL program helps students express emotions and build resilience through art. It includes visual arts, music, drama, and mindfulness activities.
The program runs as a 10-week series with hour-long, small-group sessions. Expected outcomes include improved emotional resilience, enhanced social skills, increased academic engagement, and mental health support.
Kenji Tanner, a certified Social-Emotional Learning instructor, leads the program, and brings extensive experience and a rich cultural background to her teaching.
