Bringing the Arts to the Classroom
Arts education plays a vital role in shaping confident, creative minds by providing structured learning experiences in the classroom. Since 1988, the Arts Council for Monterey County has championed arts education, bringing transformative programs directly to schools.
Through initiatives like Professional Artists in the Schools, which connects experienced artists with students to enhance learning, and Social Emotional Learning Through the Arts, which integrate creative expression to foster emotional growth, the Council reaches tens of thousands of students annually. Programs like Arts4Healing extend the benefits of creative expression to those in need, complementing the classroom experience by addressing broader community well-being.
Each year, these efforts impact approximately 15,000 students across Monterey County through:
- Over 40 partner schools
- 34% English language learners
- 72% low-income students (receiving free or reduced-price lunches)
- A diverse student population of 61% Latino, 3% Black or African American, 3% Indigenous Tribes, and 2% Asian
By delivering engaging visual and performing arts instruction in classrooms, Arts4MC fosters creativity, emotional growth, and an appreciation for the arts that enriches both students and the community.
Spark Creativity In Your Schools
Arts4MC is excited to partner with schools to bring engaging and impactful arts education programs directly into classrooms. With the passage of Proposition 28, which provides dedicated funding for arts and music education in California schools, we can help you expand your arts programming like never before. By placing professional teaching artists in your school, we inspire creativity, collaboration, and self-expression in students.
Together, we can make the arts a vital part of your school community and empower students with skills that last a lifetime. Let’s collaborate to bring the transformative power of the arts to your classrooms!

Social Emotional Learning Through the Arts Program
The Social-Emotional Learning Through the Arts (SEL) program helps elementary and middle school students build resilience, reduce stress, and process emotions through creative activities like music, dance, and visual arts. It fosters emotional growth and equips students with tools to navigate life’s challenges while nurturing a lifelong love for the arts.
