Movement as Expression: Dance in Arts4MC’s Arts Education Program

At Arts4MC, creativity takes many forms—whether through paint, music, poetry, theater, or movement. One standout example? The dance program at Loma Vista Elementary, where fourth and fifth graders are stepping, swaying, and syncing up with one another, all while building teamwork, discipline, and confidence.

For Mr. Cho, a teacher at Loma Vista, the benefits have been undeniable.

“My class has been participating in the dance class with Natasha, and it’s had a very beneficial impact on them,” he shared. “Mainly, just getting them to move, teaching them rhythm, timing, and how to work together.”

Dance isn’t just about learning steps—it’s about focus and coordination.

“If they don’t [stay in sync], it’s going to be very obvious when the whole class moves and they are not—or they’re moving in the wrong direction,” Cho explained.

And in stressful times, like state testing season, movement becomes more than just an activity—it’s an outlet.

“There’s going to be a lot of stress,” Cho noted. “This gives them a physical outlet.”

The beauty of Arts4MC’s Arts Education program is that creativity is never one-size-fits-all. Whether through painting, singing, dancing, acting, or writing, students are encouraged to find what excites them and express themselves in new ways.

“She is a very good instructor. It’s not easy teaching all grade levels, but it’s been a very beneficial program for all,” Cho emphasized.

By bringing diverse creative experiences to classrooms, Arts4MC is ensuring that every student has the chance to explore, create, and thrive through the arts.
