Monterey Symphony presents Love Letter to New York this Fall

September 16, 2026 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The Monterey Symphony presents its annual outdoor-concerts Love Letter to New York September 15 and 16 at 6:30 PM at the Forest Theater in Carmel with Brad Hogarth. Experience the energy, spirit, and unforgettable soundtrack of the city that never sleeps.

Join the Monterey Symphony for a vibrant celebration of New York through Broadway, jazz, film, and the American songbook. From Bernstein’s exhilarating On the Town and Duke Ellington’s iconic jazz to unforgettable movie themes from The Avengers, Spider-Man, Saturday Night Fever, and When Harry Met Sally. This musical journey captures the many sounds of one of the world’s greatest cities.

We’re especially excited to welcome Grammy Award-winning pianist, composer, arranger, and musical director Tammy L. Hall, whose remarkable career has made her one of the Bay Area’s defining musical voices. Joining Hall are returning Love Letter favorites Malinda DeRouen and Bernard Holcomb for a spectacular evening featuring beloved classics like Autumn in New York, Take the “A” Train, Moon River, It Had to Be You, and so much more!

From the bright lights of Broadway to the rhythms of jazz clubs and the melodies that define the silver screen, Love Letter to New York is a celebration of a city whose music continues to inspire the world. And don’t forget that costumes are strongly encouraged. Dress as a character from one of the featured shows or a New York landmark or icon!
Costume Contest prizes will be given for kids and adults at each concert.
