Coastal Conversations: Seaweed Color Theory
What colors do you see in seaweed? What might we discover by looking more closely?
Join artist-educator Mai Ryuno of Play Full Ground and ecologist Emily Gottlieb for a Coastal Conversations gathering exploring seaweed through observation, conversation, and creative inquiry.
We’ll meet along the coast to spend time with seaweed where it grows, noticing its colors, textures, and variations. Drawing on Emily’s ecological perspective and our own ways of seeing, we’ll explore how looking at the same subject through different lenses can open up new questions and possibilities.
This gathering is the first part of a two-part exploration. In a follow-up session at Play Full Ground, we’ll continue our inquiry by experimenting with making color from seaweed.
No prior art or science experience is needed. Bring your curiosity and wear or bring a color that tells a story!
Suggested contribution: $75
Space is limited. Please RSVP to join us.
