Art Exhibit National Native American Heritage Month

October 10, 2027 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Oct 5 – Nov 25, 2026. Exhibition honors National Native American Heritage Month in Seaside, CA. Monterey County.

City of Seaside Celebrates National Native American Heritage Month with Community Artist Becky Olvera Schultz to Exhibit at Seaside’s Oldemeyer Center Gallery.

Contemporary Indigenous mixed media artist Becky Olvera Schultz will present an art exhibition at the Oldemeyer Center, 986 Hilby Avenue, Seaside, from October 5 through November 25, 2026. Held in honor of National Native American Heritage Month, the exhibition offers an opportunity to explore Schultz’s personal artistic expression and her enduring interest in the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Schultz specializes in clay and mixed-media masks inspired by Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Her broader body of work includes Southwestern-style masks made from clay and gourds, rawhide shields, dolls, serigraphs, clay plaques, photography, collage, and two-dimensional mixed media works. Her distinctive style draws upon her Indigenous ancestry, research, travel experiences and creative practice. Through her work, Schultz explores the relationship between materials, personal vision and spirit.

“My art is an extension of my spirit, a piece of my personal vision and a constant source of comfort and healing for me. I derive immense satisfaction from putting life into the materials I work with.” Schultz’s work has appeared in nine museum exhibitions, galleries in several states, and numerous national and local exhibitions. She has participated in Santa Cruz Open Studios twelve times, and her art has been featured in the national magazines Cowboys & Indians, Wild
West, and Native Peoples.

The Seaside exhibition invites visitors to experience an artist’s individual perspective on indigenous inspiration, creative expression, and the healing possibilities of art.
