Community Partnership for Youth (CPY) endeavors to provide our students with the greatest opportunity to learn, and to maximize each student’s emotional and intellectual capabilities.

Community Partnership for Youth (CPY) is a prevention program providing positive alternatives to gangs, drugs and violence while reinforcing individual strengths.

Their vision is to provide our youth with a safe, structured environment that encourages healthy boundaries, positive self-esteem and the ability to make good choices for a full and successful life. Among their wonderful programs is the Visual and Performing Arts Academy, sponsored in part by the Arts Council for Monterey County and led by Sue Ann Hillyer.

Visual & Performing Arts Academy

Many of our students have difficulty learning in the concrete teaching environment of school. The Visual & Performing Art Academy broadens students learning and gives them the opportunity to be successful in acquiring skills through verbal and “right-brain” activities. The discipline and group dynamics are teaching the children self-control and appreciation for one another.

CPY’s Visual and Performing Art Academy focuses on creative self-expression.  Students are introduced to a variety of programs in theatre arts, speech communication, dance, fitness, music, mural painting and special art projects.
