The Arts Need You—Now More Than Ever
The arts are not a luxury—they are a lifeline. They heal, inspire, and connect us. Yet, Monterey County is proposing a 27% funding cut to Arts4MC, threatening vital programs that support local artists, arts education, and cultural initiatives.
This means fewer grants, fewer community events, fewer opportunities for children to experience the arts. Imagine a world without murals that tell our stories, without music that brings people together, without classrooms where students discover their creativity.
Arts4MC funding comes from the County’s Tourism Occupancy Tax, a key resource for sustaining these programs. Without it, organizations will struggle to provide the creativity, healing, and inspiration our community relies on.
Public funding may be shrinking, but community support can fill the gap. Every donation, no matter the size, makes an impact—helping a child pick up a paintbrush, supporting a musician’s dream, and keeping creativity alive.
Consider Juan (name changed for privacy), a participant in our Arts4Healing program, who found solace in painting after losing his spouse. Art reconnected him to his community and gave him purpose. Stories like his prove that the arts are essential—not expendable.
If you’ve ever been moved by a painting, a performance, or a poem, now is the time to act. Support Arts4MC or another arts organization that speaks to you. Your contribution ensures that the arts remain accessible, vibrant, and transformative.
