Welcome to the world of creativity, inspiration, and community! The Arts Council for Monterey County, also known as Arts4MC, is a vibrant non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Monterey County through the arts. But what does that really mean?
What We Do:

Support Artists: We love helping artists thrive. Through our Grants Program, we provide financial assistance to both emerging and established artists, enabling them to create and showcase their work. Additionally, our Scholarships support high school seniors pursuing a creative field in college. Our BusinessWorks program offers support and resources for creative entrepreneurs and arts nonprofits. Our ArtWorks space offers affordable studio spaces and a gallery for local artists and artisans to exhibit their masterpieces.
Nurture Creativity through Arts Education: We are passionate about bringing the arts to schools and community centers. Our Teaching Artists in the Schools, Social Emotional Learning, and Arts4Healing programs inspire young minds to reap the benefits of creative expression. Seeing the joy and growth that art brings to students is truly magical.
Facilitate Public Art and Events: We take pride in organizing public art exhibitions, murals, and community events. One of our signature events is the Open Studios Art Tour, where visitors can explore the creative spaces of local artists and experience their work firsthand.
Promote the Arts: We believe in the healing power of the arts and the significant benefits of participating in all types of creative activities. Our own programs, like Poetry Out Loud and the Poet Laureate initiatives, aim to promote literacy and literature among County residents. Not one art program or event can do it all, so we actively work to promote local artistic events put on by artists and other nonprofits, fostering a vibrant arts scene.
