Originally written in 1664, Molière’s classic French comedy, Tartuffe, tells the story of a fraudulent, hypocritical “holy man”,  who worms his way into a wealthy, aristocratic family. Tartuffe manipulates the patriarch, Orgon, into signing over his estate and household, creating chaos within his family, until the King steps in to expose and arrest the imposter.
