Yves Goyatton

Yves Goyatton
Born in Lyon, France, Yves Goyatton was first introduced to arts at L’école de Condé in Lyon, France. After a year of study, Yves decided to come to the United States to view and experience the world from a different angle. In 1999, he started courses at El Camino College in Los Angeles – where he was first introduced to sculpture. To further his knowledge in this field, he sought and obtained an Honors Degree in Sculpture from Monterey Peninsula College. Yves Goyatton always had an interest in photography. In 2003, after arriving in Monterey and experiencing the beauty of its surroundings, it was natural that he started capturing nature’s beauty through photography, as he does to capture the beauty of the human form with his sculptures.    “I love the spontaneity of photography. Capturing in an instant something that is hard to reach with my style of sculptures. These two art forms complete me and act as my personal balancing act. Sometimes, it can take months to finish a sculpture – going through all of the spectrums of emotions to create it.  With photography, it brings me that instant moment of satisfaction; the pleasure to compose the image and the adventure to be there at the right time and the right place.”   Like with his sculptures, Yves wants the viewer to have the freedom to be transported into his/her own personal perception and imagination.
