Presenter Biography

Tuyen Nguyen has been a full-time mathematics instructor at Monterey Peninsula College since 1999. Prior to that, he was an adjunct instructor at Hartnell College, MPC, and CSU Monterey Bay. His passion is teaching different level math courses along with using technology in the classroom. He previously taught math at Carden El Encanto Middle School in Santa Clara and Alisal High School in Salinas. In addition, Tuyen taught Vietnamese to Vietnamese-American children at the Vietnamese Buddhist Temple in San Jose and also served as one of the leaders of the Vietnamese Buddhist Youth Association of Northern California. He received an AA in June 1990 from MPC, a BA in June 1992 and an MA in June 1994 in Mathematics from UC Santa Cruz. Tuyen is the founder and faculty adviser for the MPC’s Asian Student Association and has organized its Annual Culture Show since 2000.
