Fueling Artistic Growth
Individual Artists Grant program recognizes and celebrates artistic excellence by providing direct financial support to artists ready to take their work to the next level. This program also fosters a deeper public appreciation for the vital role artists play in enriching our community.
Grants are available for artists in two career tiers:
- Emerging Artists: For those in the early stages of sharing their work publicly and connecting with the community. These individuals may have had a few public showings but lack consistent resources or support. A total of 16 grants, up to $5,000 each, will be awarded across Monterey County.
- Established Artists: For those who regularly present their work to the public and engage deeply with the community. These individuals can demonstrate multiple examples of artistic or cultural contributions with significant social impact. Two grants, up to $10,000 each, will be awarded within Monterey County.
This annual grant is open to artists of all disciplines residing in Monterey County. It’s a powerful opportunity to advance your career and make a meaningful impact on our region’s creative landscape.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must have been residents of Monterey County for at least two (2) years and provide proof of residency.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Arts4MC staff and board members are not eligible to apply.
- In order to expand opportunities to new artists, individuals who were awarded a grant last year are not eligible to apply during this cycle.
Congratulations to our 2025 Individual Artists Grant recipients!
Congratulations to our 2025 Individual Artists Grant recipients!
The Arts Council for Monterey County (Arts4MC) is thrilled to announce that we have awarded just under $100,000 in Individual Artists Grants to nineteen (19) local emerging and established artists. The Individual Artists Grant program was created to recognize artistic excellence, provide direct support to artists ready to take their work to a new level and cultivate public appreciation for the role of artists in our community. These grants provide vital support to artists, enabling them to create new works, connect with diverse audiences, and enhance the cultural experiences of residents and visitors alike. Artists demonstrating the significant impact this support will have on their work and the community can receive a financial stipend of up to $5,000 for emerging artists and up to $10,000 for established artists. These grantees play an important role in helping us achieve our mission of improving the quality of life for everyone in our region through the arts.
