Held in honor of National Native American Heritage Month\, the exhibition offers an opportunity to explore Schultz’s personal artistic expression and her enduring interest in the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Schultz specializes in clay and mixed-media masks inspired by Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Her broader body of work includes Southwestern-style masks made from clay and gourds\, rawhide shields\, dolls\, serigraphs\, clay plaques\, photography\, collage\, and two-dimensional mixed media works. Her distinctive style draws upon her Indigenous ancestry\, research\, travel experiences and creative practice. Through her work\, Schultz explores the relationship between materials\, personal vision and spirit. \n“My art is an extension of my spirit\, a piece of my personal vision and a constant source of comfort and healing for me. I derive immense satisfaction from putting life into the materials I work with.” Schultz’s work has appeared in nine museum exhibitions\, galleries in several states\, and numerous national and local exhibitions. Monterey County. \nCity of Seaside Celebrates National Native American Heritage Month with Community Artist Becky Olvera Schultz to Exhibit at Seaside’s Oldemeyer Center Gallery. \nContemporary Indigenous mixed media artist Becky Olvera Schultz will present an art exhibition at the Oldemeyer Center\, 986 Hilby Avenue\, Seaside\, from October 5 through November 25\, 2026. Held in honor of National Native American Heritage Month\, the exhibition offers an opportunity to explore Schultz’s personal artistic expression and her enduring interest in the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Schultz specializes in clay and mixed-media masks inspired by Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Her broader body of work includes Southwestern-style masks made from clay and gourds\, rawhide shields\, dolls\, serigraphs\, clay plaques\, photography\, collage\, and two-dimensional mixed media works. Her distinctive style draws upon her Indigenous ancestry\, research\, travel experiences and creative practice. Through her work\, Schultz explores the relationship between materials\, personal vision and spirit. \n“My art is an extension of my spirit\, a piece of my personal vision and a constant source of comfort and healing for me. I derive immense satisfaction from putting life into the materials I work with.” Schultz’s work has appeared in nine museum exhibitions\, galleries in several states\, and numerous national and local exhibitions. She has participated in Santa Cruz Open Studios twelve times\, and her art has been featured in the national magazines Cowboys & Indians\, Wild\nWest\, and Native Peoples. \nThe Seaside exhibition invites visitors to experience an artist’s individual perspective on indigenous inspiration\, creative expression\, and the healing possibilities of art.

Renowned for its compelling performances and distinctive blend of classical masterworks with traditional Scottish folk music\, the Quartet has earned international praise for its adventurous programming and expressive musicianship. The New York Times described the ensemble as “eloquent performers who bring the same sense of charisma and sense of adventure to their programming.” \nThe evening begins with the Maxwell Quartet’s own arrangements of traditional Scottish folk music\, celebrating the ensemble’s musical roots. The program continues with Philip Glass’s String Quartet No. 2\, Company\, followed by Beethoven’s monumental String Quartet No. 9 in C Major (“Razumovsky”)\, Op. 59\, No. 3. After intermission\, the Quartet concludes the evening with Dvořák’s richly lyrical String Quartet No. 13 in G Major\, Op. 106\, one of the composer’s most celebrated chamber works. \nJoin us at Sunset Center as we launch our 60th Anniversary Season with an unforgettable evening featuring one of today’s most exciting string quartets.
