The program includes pieces by Haydn\, Howells\, MacMillan\, and Mendelssohn. \nFULL DESCRIPTION \nJoseph Haydn String Quartet in C Major op.74  no. 1\nAnonymous Scottish work songs\nHerbert Howells Fantasy Quartet\nJames MacMillan Memento\nFelix Mendelssohn String Quartet No. 6 in F minor\, op. 80 \nPerformers \nColin Scobie\, violin\nGeorge Smith\, violin\nElliott Perks\, viola\nDuncan Strachan\, cello \nAbout the Performers \nThe Quartet comprises four close friends who grew up playing folk and classical music together in youth orchestras and music schools across Scotland. The group officially began in 2010 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland\, where its founding members met as postgraduate students. In 2011\, the Maxwell Quartet was named Residency Artists for Enterprise Music Scotland 2011- 2013\, which saw several acclaimed concert tours over their two-year tenure. Performing widely across Scotland\, the quartet established a reputation for delighting audiences with their “unaffected enthusiasm” (North Highland Times) and their “panache and conviction” (Strathearn Herald). The quartet has since held residencies at Oxford University\, Perth Concert Hall\, and many chamber music festivals across the UK\, including Loch Shiel’s festival in the west highlands of Scotland\, and a new self-curated concert series at Guardswell Farm in Perthshire. The quartet currently holds the position of Associate Artist at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow\, and at Music at Paxton Festival in the Scottish Borders. Passionate about collaborating with musicians and other art forms\, the quartet has worked with a global roster of artists and institutions\, including theatre company Cryptic\, installation artists Wintour’s Leap\, the Royal Ballet School\, soul duo Lunir\, folk duo Chris Stout & Catriona MacKay\, cinematographer Herman Kolgen\, and many more. In addition to a busy concert diary\, the quartet regularly features in broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland and regularly gives schools workshops and concerts for children. \nTickets are available through our website by clicking the link below or calling the office at 831-625-2212. Using real-life insect specimens\, students will use science illustration techniques to create accurate illustrations of butterflies\, moths\, and other insects!  \n We will focus on scientific accuracy\, attention to detail\, and color matching. We will use graphite\, ink\, colored pencils\, and watercolor to create our insect illustrations. \n Each student will take home several sketches and illustrations of their own making!  \n For all skill levels.

DESCRIPTION:Palenke Arts proudly presents AZA band in concert – Amazight music from Morocco .\nAZA unites traditional Tamazight music\, indigenous to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco\, with the global influences of its diverse members. Evocative of Saharan-African blues\, yet with an original style that truly defies categorization\, AZA’s stirring performances feature deep\, danceable rhythms\, intricate string melodies\, and soaring\, soulful vocals. Visually dynamic and engaging performers\, AZA has been inspiring international audiences for more than 20 years.\nFounding members Fattah Abbou and Mohamed Aoualou are Imazighen native to the High Atlas mountain region of Morocco\, where they played and studied music for over twenty-five years\, and are recognized as master musicians. They formed the sextet AZA in Santa Cruz\, California\, after moving to the United States eight years ago. The unique exchange between the High Atlas and Californian musicians has proved potent; AZA has produced two albums of original compositions\, and performed at music festivals\, clubs\, and universities around the United States and abroad in Ireland\, Canada\, and Morocco.\nAZA’s endeavors are not limited to music. The Imazighen (incorrectly labeled “Berber”)\, are the indigenous people of North Africa whose recorded history dates back to 3300 years ago. Fattah and Mohamed have always been part of the Amazigh movement and struggle to revive a culture that has been marginalized for centuries. Through music and cultural events\, AZA continues to inspire awareness in people of all ages about the Amazigh culture\, that it may be recognized and appreciated among the indigenous cultures of the world.

The program features works by Mozart\, Shostakovich and a world-premiere composition by Andrea Casarrubios. \nFULL DESCRIPTION \nProgram: \nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart Piano Quartet No. 1 in G Minor\, K.478\nAndrea Casarrubios Piano Quintet (CMMB commission)\nDmitri Shostakovich Piano Quintet in G Minor\, op. 57 \nArtistic Director and violist Luke Fleming formed Manhattan Chamber Players. This collective of players came together to share their love of chamber music. All the members have their own impressive careers – as soloists\, members of professional string quartets\, piano trios\, or other chamber groups\, and even two world-renowned composers. This group brings the flexibility to perform practically anything in the rich string/wind/piano chamber repertoire. \n As a guest soloist at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid\, Ms. Casarrubios performed her Concerto for Cello and Orchestra\, MIRAGE (2019).  SEVEN (2020) for solo cello\, “a searching\, intense\, and elegiac tribute to the essential workers during the pandemic” (The New York Times)\, was commissioned by cellist Thomas Mesa and has been performed worldwide.
