Founded by Carmel-by-the-Sea artist Jeanne D’Orge, the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts was established to help support experimental fine arts and projects in the sciences. Since its opening in 1948, the Center has strived to stay true to its mission of presenting quality and diverse artistic, educational, and cultural programs in Monterey County.
The mission of the Monterey History and Arts Association (MHAA) is to share the histories and the diverse legacies of people, stories, and places that continue to shape the Monterey region. MHAA instituted Montery's historic landmark program and created the Path of History, which guides visitors to historic sites in old Monterey. MHAA possesses extensive collections of furnishings, paintings, photographs, costumes, books, manscripts, and other artifcats, and is the parent organization of the Museum of Monterey (MoM) which features History, Arts, Innovation, and Maritime. MHAA owns and preserves Casa Serrano Adobe, Mayo Hayes O'Donnell Library, and the Frances Doud House and garden.
