Juried exhibition at the Health Department Building – Closed
On behalf of the Monterey County Health Department, the Arts Council is seeking original works of art for a juried show at the Monterey County Health Department Building at 1270 Natividad Road, Salinas, California.
Sixty (60) artwork pieces, each highlighting alternative uses for normally “disposable materials” will be selected for their subject matter, originality and craftsmanship. We offer you an opportunity to display your innovative and imaginative abilities to provide a work of Art from what others regard as mere Trash! This Sustainability Art Show is designed not only to reshape these “waste” materials into something new and esthetic, but also to promote our local artists. NOTE: All works are on loan to the County for a period not to exceed one year. All works will be on sale to the public via the Arts Council website (except as prohibited by the artist). Juried exhibition “Scenic Roadways of Monterey County” at the Transportation Agency for Monterey County – closed
On behalf of the Transportation Agency for Monterey County, The Central Coast Plain Air Painters in co-operation with the Arts Council for Monterey County is seeking original works of art for a juried show at the Transportation Agency for Monterey County in Salinas. Thirty five (35) winners will be selected whose paintings celebrate our theme “Scenic Roadways”. The theme refers to subjects in Monterey County that can be seen on or from or by a roadway in Monterey County. Open to all artists in California. “Celebrating Monterey County” – 2017 Fine Art Calendar – closed
Each year, the Arts Council produces a fine art calendar that captures the stunning beauty and extraordinary diversity of life in Monterey County. We will use the large format (11×17) again this year. Please note that we will select two scenes each from North County, Salinas Valley / South County, Seaside/Marina, Monterey Peninsula, Salinas and Big Sur. These beautiful calendars are sold at a wide variety of outlets. All proceeds from the entry fees and calendar sales benefit our Professional Artists in the Schools program – providing arts education, arts-integrated curriculum and special arts and literacy workshops for thousands of students. Juried Exhibition “New Wave” – closed
New Wave is a juried exhibition featuring the work of emerging artists from the Monterey Bay area. The purpose of New Wave is to provide developing artists who are beginning their professional career an opportunity to showcase their skills and raise funds for the Arts Council for Monterey County’s new Local Emerging Artist Program (LEAP). Through a juried exhibition, panel discussion and online marketing, New Wave will effectively showcase and promote the talents of the artists featured. New Wave is an aquatic themed exhibition. The definition of aquatic is: of, in, or pertaining to water. Throughout history, and especially in the Monterey Bay region, water has long held a tradition of inspiring artists. “Paint The Village” – 3rd annual Paint Out – closed
The Quail and Olive with the Arts Council for Monterey County announced the Third Annual Paint the Village Plein Air Invitational and Art Sale. Renowned California Plein Air Artist Murray Wagnon, president of the Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters Association and Mark Farina, Carmel Art Assoc. Signature Member, will judge entries and award prizes in first, second and third place. Proceeds from the entry fees, art sales and sponsorships will benefit the Professional Artists in the Schools program (PAS) of The Arts Council for Monterey County. Monterey County 3-Dimentional Diorama “Grab Life by the Moments” – closed
In cooperation with the Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau and County of Monterey Economic Development, the Arts Council is seeking a team of artists, who will create a 3-Dimentional diorama for a glass showcase built into the wall (inside measurements are 63”x46”x22,5”). The winning design will be placed on a display at the Capitol building in Sacramento. The winning team will capture the essence of Monterey County as it evokes a sense of this year’s theme “Grab Life by the Moments” and encourages viewers to visit our county. The display will remain in the Monterey County glass showcase, in the halls of the California Capitol, for one year, insured for up to $4000.
