 Juried exhibition at the Health Department Building – Closed

On behalf of the Monterey County Health Department, the Arts Council is seeking original works of art for a juried show at the Monterey County Health Department Building at 1270 Natividad Road, Salinas, California.
Sixty (60) artwork pieces, each highlighting alternative uses for normally “disposable materials” will be selected for their subject matter, originality and craftsmanship. We offer you an opportunity to display your innovative and imaginative abilities to provide a work of Art from what others regard as mere Trash!  This Sustainability Art Show is designed not only to reshape these “waste” materials into something new and esthetic, but also to promote our local artists.  Inspired by the University of Alaska at Fairbanks initiative:  http://www.uaf.edu/sustainability/rise/projects/artshow/

NOTE: All works are on loan to the County for a period not to exceed one year. All works will be on sale to the public via the Arts Council website (except as prohibited by the artist). The Council retains 30% of the total proceeds to support arts education in Monterey County. All accepted works are insured from the time of delivery to the County Building until time of pick up (not to exceed $4,000 value.)

An Exhibition of the Central Coast Plein Air Painters – closed

This exhibit is open to all Artists working in oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel and residing in California.  You do not need to be a member of the Central Coast Plein Air Painters to enter but membership in the Central Coast Plein Air Painters is free and available here.
The Colorful Destinations Exhibition will be hosted by the Transportation Agency for Monterey County Offices in Salinas, CA. located at 55-B Plaza Circle Salinas, CA  93901, , and will feature paintings by The Central Coast Plein Air Painters of the amazing beauty of California’s Central Coast as accessed, seen from, by or on a roadway in Monterey County. 2018 Fine Art Calendar – closed

Each year, the Arts Council produces a Fine Art Calendar that captures the stunning beauty and extraordinary diversity of life in Monterey County. This year’s calendar will again be printed in large format, 11″ x 17″, and 2 scenes, each, from North County, South County/Salinas Valley, Seaside/Marina, Monterey Peninsula, Salinas and Big Sur will be featured.

These signature calendars will be sold at a wide variety of outlets throughout Monterey County, as well as on our website.

All proceeds, from the entry fees and calendar sales, support our Professional Artists in the Schools program – providing arts education, arts-integrated curriculum and special arts and literacy workshops for thousands of students. This year’s jurors were: Ernesto Altamirano, Laurie Bend and Laurie Myers.


 


Juried Exhibition “New Wave” – closed

New Wave is a juried exhibition featuring the work of emerging artists from the Monterey Bay area. The purpose of New Wave is to provide developing artists who are beginning their professional career an opportunity to showcase their skills and raise funds for the Arts Council for Monterey County’s new Local Emerging Artist Program (LEAP). Through a juried exhibition, panel discussion and online marketing, New Wave will effectively showcase and promote the talents of the artists featured. New Wave is an aquatic themed exhibition. The definition of aquatic is: of, in, or pertaining to water. Throughout history, and especially in the Monterey Bay region, water has long held a tradition of inspiring artists. New Wave artists are welcome to present this traditional theme from new and unique perspectives. For more details go to onlinejuriedshows.com



“Paint The Village” – 4th Annual Paint Out – closed

The Quail and Olive with the Arts Council for Monterey County are pleased to announce the Fourth Annual “Paint the Village” Plein Air Invitational and Art Sale. Renowned California Plein Air Artist Murray Wagnon, Paint Out Chair of the Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters Association and Vice President and Signature Artist Sibyl Johnson will judge entries and award prizes in first, second and third place. Proceeds from the entry fees, art sales and sponsorships will benefit the Professional Artists in the Schools program (PAS) of The Arts Council for Monterey County. The program brings actors, musicians, painters, and dancers to work with more than 6,000 students into the areas of greatest need within Monterey County each year.

 


Juried exhibition “Celebrating Monterey County” at the Monterey County Administration Building – Closed

On behalf of the Board of Supervisors and Monterey County staff, the Arts Council for Monterey County is seeking works of art for a juried show celebrating the unique beauty, colors, lifestyle, and heritage of Monterey County for exhibition in the public spaces of the building located at 168 W. Alisal Street, Salinas. Jurors: Lee Abner Abbelana, Sandra Gray, Marilyn Vierra and Sue Ann Hillyer.

Juried exhibition #BigBlueLive -#The Artists’ View – closed

The Arts Council for Monterey County and The Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters Association invites you to paint with us on August 28th & 29th. We will be painting on the Recreation Trail from Del Monte Beach to Lovers Point.
Bring your canvases to The Museum of Monterey (MOM) at 8:00am -9:00am on Aug. 28 or 29 to be stamped so that you can submit your plein air pieces to be juried into the exhibition #BIG BLUE LIVE, The Artists’ View.  The show
at MOM, 5 Custom House Plaza, which will run August 30 to September 31, 2015. You do not need to be a member of MBPAPA to participate.  The entry fee for non-members is $45 and for members $25 – or use the promo code RTSANS when you register. Fee includes recognition in the exhibit, chance to win cash prizes, free admission to the reception – Sunday, August 30 from 5 pm to 8 pm…This event is timed with the BBC and PBS production of Big Blue Live.  Please join us for this exceptional opportunity.Eligibility: All artists working in any two-dimensional medium.


Juried exhibition “Wayfinding in Monterey County” at the Transportation Agency for Monterey County – closed

On behalf of the Transportation Agency for Monterey County, the Arts Council is seeking original works of art for a juried show at the Transportation Agency for Monterey County in Salinas. Thirty (30) winners will be selected whose paintings or photographs celebrate our theme “Wayfinding in Monterey County”: Scenes depicting how signs guide visitors and residents around our beautiful county. Monterey County 3-Dimentional Diorama “Grab Life by the Moments” – closed

In cooperation with the Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau and County of Monterey Economic Development, the Arts Council is seeking a team of artists, who will create a 3-Dimentional diorama for a glass showcase built into the wall (inside measurements are 63”x46”x22,5”). The winning design will be placed on a display at the Capitol building in Sacramento. The winning team will capture the essence of Monterey County as it evokes a sense of this year’s theme “Grab Life by the Moments” and encourages viewers to visit our county. The display will remain in the Monterey County glass showcase, in the halls of the California Capitol, for one year, insured for up to $4000.
